Job summary

SoFi is seeking a Sanctions Advisor to provide specialized, second-line compliance across the enterprise, including SoFi Bank, N.A. and SoFi Securities, LLC.

You will identify and mitigate risks related to global sanctions (OFAC, UN, EU, UK) as fintech expands into digital assets and cutting-edge financial tech. You will lead sanctions risk analyses, advise product teams, and collaborate with AML to align sanctions obligations with business objectives while supporting regulatory examinations and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of sanctions experience in a complex financial institution, including crypto and global sanctions compliance.
• Strong understanding of BaaS products including payment processing and card issuance.
• Ability to lead development and enhancements of sanctions policies, risk appetites, and governance structures.
• Direct advisory support to Compliance and Risk Leadership on high-risk transactions, expansions, mergers, and regimes.
• Excellent communication across all levels and business lines.
• Proven leadership and project management within a fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of sanctions compliance in multiple international jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Support the sanctions oversight framework with risk analyses and an enterprise inventory.
• Act as escalation point for sanctions investigations, including crypto, with guidance for complex scenarios.
• Advise product teams and engineers during the product lifecycle on sanctions matters.
• Assist in tuning and validating payment and name screening models to minimize risk.
• Draft sanctions risk analyses and governance documentation for regulatory reviews and audits.
• Collaborate with AML leadership to integrate sanctions obligations into new product assessments.
• Develop and implement sanctions policies, controls, and regulatory-aligned procedures.
