Job summary

SoFi is seeking a Principal Advisor to lead the Global Sanctions Compliance function across all lines of business and jurisdictions. The role emphasizes strategy, policy development, and ongoing risk management within OFAC and international sanctions regimes.

The ideal candidate has senior government agency experience, plus leadership at a Tier-1 global financial institution. You will guide cross‑functional teams and ensure regulatory expectations are met across product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a senior policy, enforcement, licensing, or compliance role within OFAC (US Treasury).
• 10–15+ years of sanctions experience, including crypto and global sanctions compliance.
• Knowledge of BaaS products including payments and traditional banking services.
• Ability to lead development of sanctions policies, governance structures, and risk appetites.
• Advisory support to Compliance and Risk leadership on high-risk transactions and market expansions.
• Strong communication across all levels and business lines; leadership and collaboration.
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Be accountable as the Sanctions Program Leader for SoFi.
• Serve as sanctions SME for Compliance, product managers, engineers, and business units.
• Engage AML and cross‑functional leaders to identify and guide sanctions changes.
• Support annual sanctions risk assessment and control implementation.
• Provide guidance to detect and reduce sanctions exposure.
• Develop and review sanctions policies and controls across product lifecycles.
• Collaborate with compliance, business, and engineering to address sanctions issues.
• Stay updated on sanctions regulations, trends, and best practices.
• Assist in regulatory exams, audits, and third‑party risk reviews.
