Job summary

SoFi seeks a Sanctions Advisor to provide specialized, second-line compliance services across SoFi Enterprise, including SoFi Bank, SoFi Securities, and related tech platform. You will identify, mitigate, and manage risks related to global sanctions (OFAC, UN, EU, UK) as the company expands into digital assets and fintech.

You will lead sanctions risk analyses, support investigations, advise product teams, and collaborate with AML leadership to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of sanctions experience in a complex financial institution, including crypto exposure.
• Strong understanding of BaaS products and related banking services.
• Ability to lead development of sanctions policies, risk appetites, and governance.
• Direct advisory support to Compliance and Risk Leadership on high-risk transactions and expansions.
• Excellent communication across levels and business lines.
• Proven leadership and ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Solid knowledge of international sanctions regimes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Support sanctions oversight controls framework with risk analyses and inventory.
• Escalate sanctions investigations and provide regulatory guidance for complex cases.
• Act as sanctions SME for Compliance, product managers, engineers, and business units.
• Tune, test, and optimize payment and name screening to minimize risk.
• Draft sanctions risk analyses, reporting, and governance documentation.
• Prepare materials for regulatory examinations and third-party reviews.
• Collaborate with AML leadership to align sanctions obligations with product assessments.
• Develop and implement sanctions policies, procedures, and controls across lifecycles.
