Morningstar in Illinois seeks a Director of Procurement to drive enterprise-wide strategy, lead strategic sourcing, and negotiate key supplier contracts.

Reporting to the Head of Global Procurement, you will build consensus across HR, Finance, and Legal, and guide a high-performing team to deliver measurable value.

This role requires data-driven insights, global spend leadership, and the ability to translate stakeholder objectives into category strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or JD preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive strategic sourcing or commercial leadership experience managing Corporate Services / Professional Services spend.
• 8+ years of team leadership experience.
• Strong negotiation experience with Master Agreements, Statements of Work and Change Orders.
• Experience leading global strategic sourcing initiatives in a fast-paced enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Own category strategy and contract negotiations across Professional Services, Travel, Contingent Workforce, and Workplace Facilities/CapEx.
• Design data-driven sourcing strategies balancing cost, speed, quality and innovation.
• Lead supplier evaluations, negotiations, and end-to-end contract management.
• Negotiate complex global agreements focused on total value, budgetary savings and favorable terms.
• Use analytics and automation to improve visibility and decision speed.
• Prepare RFQs, RFPs, bids and evaluate proposals.
• Serve as trusted advisor to senior leaders across HR, Finance, and Legal.
• Align sourcing strategies to enterprise goals for growth and margin.
• Develop and mentor category management teams; improve processes and mitigate supplier risk.
• Define improvements to increase engagement, reduce cycle time and drive efficiency.
