Job summary

TRM Labs seeks a Legal Counsel, Privacy to build and scale our global privacy program. You will own end‑to‑end privacy analysis for Orion, including DPIAs, data‑flow questions, and transfer assessments, partnering with Product, Engineering, and GTM to enable international expansion.

You will drive privacy‑by‑design across the development lifecycle, respond to data subject requests, and develop templates and playbooks that scale with AI‑assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of privacy and data‑protection legal experience, with hands‑on work applying GDPR and US state privacy laws to a technology product.
• Active US bar admission; JD from an ABA‑accredited law school.
• Proven AI fluency: using Claude, Gemini, or equivalent tools in daily workflow.
• Experience counseling Product and Engineering on privacy‑by‑design, DPIAs, and data flows.
• Familiarity with cross‑border transfer mechanisms (SCCs, transfer impact assessments, adequacy analysis).

Responsibilities

• Own privacy analysis end‑to‑end for launches in new jurisdictions.
• Embed privacy‑by‑design into Orion development lifecycle with Engineering.
• Lead DSAR responses in coordination with Engineering and Customer Success.
• Build and maintain privacy program artifacts (records of processing, DPIA templates, breach‑response playbooks).
• Review and finalize DPAs with AI assistance to speed decisions.
• Design lawful cross‑border transfer mechanisms for international customers.
• Stand up self‑service privacy review intake with AI triage.
• Advise CLO and AGC with clear, business‑ready privacy guidance.
