Job summary

Hoffman Construction is seeking a Payroll Specialist to partner with the Payroll Manager and process high-volume bi-weekly payroll for domestic employees using JD Edwards. This full-cycle role covers multi-state and international payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while protecting confidential information and supporting month-end close.

Qualifications

• 3 years working experience with union and non-union full cycle payroll.
• Two-year associate degree or direct experience equivalent.
• Understand proper taxation and deduction for compliance with the Fed, State, local jurisdictions and payroll regulations.
• Excellent organizational skill, attention to detail; must meet deadlines.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software.
• Strong leadership skills and sense of ownership.
• Ability to communicate effectively with teammates, management, and external contacts.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the processing of biweekly multistate confidential payroll for both our domestic payrolls.
• Coordinate with our third-party tax source to ensure compliance with US regulations.
• Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Support the month-end closing for all payroll-related accounts to ensure quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and other statutory reporting requirements for domestic payroll.
• Ensure accuracy of employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments and other employee deductions.
• Research payroll issues/discrepancies and process necessary corrections.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Receives and responds to payroll and payroll related inquiries from current and former employees.
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
