Job summary

Hoffman Construction is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the Payroll team. You will work with the Payroll Manager to process high-volume bi-weekly payroll for domestic employees using JD Edwards, handling full-cycle payroll across multiple states and international assignments.

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, coordinating with a third-party tax source, month-end close, benefit deductions, audits, and responding to employee inquiries.

Qualifications

  • 3 years working experience with union and non-union full cycle payroll.
  • Two-year associate degree or direct experience equivalent.
  • Understand proper taxation and deduction for compliance with the Fed, State, local jurisdictions and payroll regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skill, attention to detail. Must be able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and demands.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software.
  • Strong leadership skills and sense of ownership.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong and meaningful relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and various levels of management as well as external contacts.
  • Self-motivated working under minimal supervision.

  • Ensure accuracy of employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments and other employee deductions.
  • Research payroll issues/discrepancies and process necessary corrections.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Receives and responds to payroll and payroll related inquiries from current and former employees.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary: The Payroll Specialist will work directly with the Payroll Manager to process high volume bi-weekly payroll for both domestic employees using JD Edwards software. This is a full-cycle, multi-state and international payroll position for confidential payroll.

Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000

Essential Functions:

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: workday is combination of standing, walking and sitting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs: 5% of day .
  • Hands/Arms: constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use .
  • Sight: visual acuity in near, mid and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination .
  • Hearing:sufficientto hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.
  • Speech:sufficientto make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone.
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: minimal .
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required .
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments .
  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired results .
  • Must be able to plan and organize work .
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers .

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills:
