Canonical is a pioneering tech firm focused on open source and cloud technology. This Global Payroll Manager role owns end-to-end multi-country payroll operations, payroll controls, and global payroll process improvements in a high growth environment.

The role collaborates with HR, Accounting, and external providers to ensure accurate, timely payroll while maintaining strong controls and compliance across countries.

Qualifications

• Significant multi-country or global payroll experience and strong payroll compliance knowledge.
• Proficiency with payroll systems, HRIS, and analytical tools with strong reconciliation skills.
• Experience managing payroll audits and regulatory requirements.
• Leadership, mentorship mindset, and excellent English communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to twice a year for company events.
• Academic background in Accounting or Finance or a compelling narrative about an alternative path.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with HR, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Treasury, FP&A, and external providers to support payroll operations and compliance.
• Manage end-to-end payroll operations across different countries ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Review and approve payrolls prior to final processing and maintain strong payroll controls.
• Analyze payroll and salary costs, investigate variances, and monitor regulatory changes.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, scalability, and the employee experience.
• Lead, mentor, and coach a global payroll team and maintain relationships with vendors.
