Nelnet is seeking an International Payroll Lead to manage country onboarding, determine payroll mechanisms and worker classifications, and build country-specific payroll playbooks. You will partner with Legal, Tax and HR leaders to ensure compliance and data privacy for global associates.

You will define country-specific tax and payroll requirements, maintain policy administration, and coordinate funding and banking needs.

Formación

• Experience in multi-country payroll implementations and vendor management.
• Ability to build and maintain payroll playbooks and documentation.
• Strong collaboration with Legal, Tax, HRIS and HRBPs.

Responsabilidades

• Lead country onboarding assessments to determine payroll mechanisms (EOR/PEO/direct) and worker classification.
• Define country-specific payroll build requirements and tax treatment.
• Partner on tax/compliance requirements for each country and year-end statements.
• Define statutory time-off and leave entitlements per country for policy administration.
• Define termination and severance requirements and embed in playbooks.
• Own data privacy and cross-border data handling for payroll, including GDPR.
• Coordinate payroll funding, banking mechanics, and in-country account requirements.
• Develop international People Services team and provide coaching and capability-building.
• Maintain and update processing playbooks for active countries.
• Train and certify team members as international payroll specialists.
• Serve as escalation point for international payroll issues and coverage gaps.
• Manage vendor relationships for EOR/PEO and payroll providers; negotiate contracts and SLAs.
• Reevaluate operating model per country as the company grows or footprint changes.
• Collaborate with HRIS and Systems on country configurations and integrations.
