Job summary

Armada is hiring a Senior Manager, Global Payroll to own global payroll end-to-end. You will manage US multi-state payroll, international EOR populations, and equity payroll, while building scalable processes, controls, and headcount as the company grows.

You will own vendor relationships, ensure compliance in every jurisdiction, and drive the payroll function forward with system evaluations and audits. This is a remote-based role across the continental US.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on payroll with end-to-end ownership of US multi-state payroll.
• Direct experience administering payroll in Rippling, including EOR populations.
• Knowledge of nexus, SUI and SDI, local levies, and agency management across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience with equity payroll mechanics and stock plan administration data.
• Payroll accounting fundamentals: GL mapping, balance sheet reconciliation, accruals, and month-end close.
• Ability to scale a payroll function: calendars, controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
• CPP certification strongly preferred.
• Judgment and influence to advise leadership and hold partner teams to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end US payroll processing for 30+ states in Rippling, including bi-weekly and off-cycle runs.
• Coordinate international and EOR payroll with Rippling/Deel and local providers.
• Maintain payroll tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Plan expansion into new states and countries with payroll readiness and jurisdiction setup.
• Manage equity payroll data and events with Finance and Legal partners.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and balance sheet accounts; assist month‑end close.
• Oversee year-end processing including W‑2s and international filings.
• Liaise for wage records and filings during audits; support 401(k) audit.
• Design and maintain payroll controls, workflows, and procedures; serve as primary contact for external auditors.
• Set payroll calendar, cut-off deadlines, and data handoffs with People Ops, Talent Acquisition, and Finance.
• Evaluate and implement payroll systems and automation; reduce manual reconciliation.
• Build the function: define operating model, justify headcount, hire and develop the payroll team.
• Produce payroll metrics, variance analysis, and labor cost reporting.
