Job summary

You will arrange freight with carriers and vendors, plan optimal routes, keep clients informed from departure to arrival, prepare export documentation, and negotiate favorable rates. The role requires 3–5 years in logistics and proficiency with Microsoft Office; AS400 knowledge and NVOCC experience are plus.

Qualifications

• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills as it relates to job duties.
• AS400 based system knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.
• NVOCC experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• 3-5 years of industry related experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Arranges transport of cargo with required carriers, vendors, trucking companies, warehouses, packing facilities, or other applicable parties.
• Plans for and utilizes most optimum route of cargo based on client needs.
• Ensure clients, DF Young partners or other required parties are kept informed of transport arrangements and status from departure to arrival.
• Communicates with applicable parties to ensure service requirements are achieved.
• Coordinates with sales personnel to ensure quality services are achieved and maintained.
• Negotiates favorable buying rates with approved vendors.
• Maintains professional phone manner internally and externally.
• Prepares export shipment documentation as required by US law and multi-country requirements.
• Files AES on behalf of shipper in internal system prior to sailing.
• Ensures invoicing is completed accurately and reflects costs in projected gross profits.
