Job summary

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. in Houston seeks an Ocean Export Specialist to move products internationally via ocean freight, handling documentation, coordinating pickups and maintaining compliant operations. You will interact with customers, overseas agents, and authorities to ensure smooth, lawful shipments and accurate invoicing.

The role requires 3–5 years’ ocean export or freight forwarding experience, with CargoWise (C1) knowledge preferred, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience handling ocean export shipments.
• Experience in the freight forwarding industry preferred.
• Knowledge of CargoWise (C1) preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/coordinate the necessary documentation for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution of all ocean export activities.
• Coordinate cargo pickup/transfer. Monitor status.
• Communicate with export related authorities, and customers and suppliers, in all relevant territories and countries, as necessary to ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and activities.
• Manage/update carrier/vendor rates. Obtain spot rates when necessary.
• Communicate/correspond with overseas agents and clients in a timely manner. To include pre alert, rate requests, shipment status.
• Track shipments and update customers/agents of status.
• Create and maintain customer files.
• Responsible for customer invoicing and payables approval.
• Audit files to ensure accuracy and completion.
• Interact with coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist other departments as needed, or when requested by the department or branch manager.
