Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Network Infrastructure Engineer in the US with 2 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. You will design, deploy, and operate our global hardware and network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.

Travel up to 60% domestically within the U.S. and collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential as you diagnose and resolve Layer 1–3 connectivity issues.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with Datacenter operations and protocols, network technologies, security concepts, Unix/Linux internals, distributed systems, and systems design.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability and usability of Akamai's products and services.
• Travel regularly to datacenters to receive, deliver, install, and maintain hardware assets.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and monitor network connectivity issues at Layers 1–3.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during deployment projects, network installations, and maintenance.
• Work closely with field technicians, ISPs and Akamai partners, and third-party vendors for installation, maintenance and fulfillment.
• Monitor, triage, and resolve maintenance tickets, adhering to SLA targets.
• Maintain and exceed high SLA targets, ensuring robust uptime and performance.
• Lift at least 50 pounds of equipment.
