Job summary

A network infrastructure engineer at Akamai Technologies, Inc. will design, deploy, and operate our global hardware and network platform, coordinating with field technicians and partners to ensure reliable, scalable performance across data centers.

You will diagnose and resolve network issues, support end-to-end deployments, and work with internal and external teams to keep services running smoothly. 60% travel domestically is expected, plus a background check for US government-related

Qualifications

2 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or its equivalent
Experience with Datacenter operations and protocols, network technologies, Security concepts, Unix/Linux internals, distributed systems, and systems design

Responsibilities

Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability and usability of products and services
Travel regularly to datacenters to receive, deliver, install, and maintain hardware assets
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and monitor network connectivity issues at Layer 1, 2 and 3
Collaborate with cross-functional teams during deployment projects, network installations, and maintenance
Work with field technicians, ISPs and Akamai partners, and 3rd party client vendors for installation, maintenance, and fulfillment
Monitor, triage, and resolve maintenance tickets, ensuring SLA targets
Maintain and exceed high SLA targets, ensuring robust system uptime and performance
Lift at least 50 pounds of equipment
