Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Network Infrastructure Engineer to help plan, build, maintain, and operate our global platform. You will diagnose hardware and network issues, deploy secure server clusters, and coordinate with field technicians and partners to ensure top-tier uptime and performance.

Travel up to 60% domestically within the U.S. and work with cross-functional teams on deployment projects while upholding stringent SLA targets and operational guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with Datacenter operations/protocols, network technologies, and security concepts.
• Solid organizational skills with scheduling and operational planning experience.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines while following procedures.
• Domestic travel up to 60% within the United States.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability and usability of Akamai's products and services.
• Travel to datacenters to receive, deliver, install and maintain hardware assets; ensure compliance.
• Diagnose and monitor network issues at Layer 1–3 and coordinate resolutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for deployment projects and maintenance.
• Work with field technicians, ISPs, partners and vendors on installation and fulfillment.
• Monitor, triage and resolve maintenance tickets to meet SLA targets.
• Maintain high SLA targets and robust system uptime and performance.
• Lift at least 50 pounds of equipment.
