Job summary

AstraZeneca plc is seeking a Director, IT Business Partner – Global Medical Affairs to lead the interface between Medical Affairs and IT within the Rare Disease Unit. You will drive the technology roadmap, champion digital transformation, and ensure compliant, scalable solutions that advance scientific engagement and patient outcomes.

In this role you will identify Generative AI and Predictive AI opportunities, govern AI pilots, and partner with security, privacy, and enterprise teams to realize

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, life sciences, data science, or related field.
• 12+ years of technology leadership in pharma or life sciences, especially Medical Affairs.
• Experience leading large global programs in a matrixed organization.
• Experience implementing or optimizing enterprise tech in regulated environments (GxP, GDPR).
• Knowledge of Generative AI and Predictive AI; involvement in AI governance and value realization.

Responsibilities

• Act as trusted advisor to Global Medical Affairs leadership translating strategy into tech initiatives.
• Build and maintain Medical IT roadmap aligned with RDU priorities and enterprise IT strategy.
• Lead delivery of Medical IT programs with quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance including GxP, privacy, and security.
• Develop business cases and value realization plans to support technology investments across Medical.
• Drive AI adoption and governance ensuring responsible, human-centered AI delivery.
