Job summary

AstraZeneca plc in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a senior enterprise AI leader to set the vision and operating model to make AI, data, and modern platforms routine tools for 3,000+ medical colleagues.

You will partner with Enterprise AI, IT, Medical leadership to translate high-impact medical use cases into scalable products with measurable value, balancing global standards with regional needs and driving responsible AI governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent international education.
• 10+ years in pharma/biotech across Medical Affairs, Medical Excellence, Digital/IT or Commercial Operations.
• 5+ years leading AI/digital transformation at scale in life sciences with GenAI/NLP/ML deployments.
• 10+ years of people leadership in global, matrixed teams.
• Experience implementing medical systems, omnichannel engagement across regions.
• Ability to translate technical topics into business value; strong stakeholder skills.
• Knowledge of global/local medical regulations, privacy, data governance, and audit/compliance.
• Portfolio prioritization and benefits realization; experience with enterprise PM & agile.

Responsibilities

• Define a multi-year AI/digital acceleration strategy with value cases and an investment roadmap.
• Set global standards for scientific engagement and field excellence with regional adaptability.
• Embed AI/digital performance tracking with KPIs and dashboards for quality and decisions.
• Establish an ethics-by-design framework covering governance, privacy, bias, and human oversight.
• Translate high-value medical use cases into functional, data, and AI requirements; deliver secure scalable solutions.
• Co-develop omnichannel medical content and engagement strategies across markets.
• Ensure platform reliability, data quality, and lifecycle management with compliance.
