Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking a Global Product Lifecycle Engineer to own AWS Mechanical (Cooling) infrastructure products through their lifecycle.

You will collaborate with product teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to deliver reliable, manufacturable solutions at scale. The role requires hands-on mechanical engineering expertise, design-for-manufacturability, and the ability to drive root-cause analyses and cross-functional improvements across geographies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of critical data center or mission critical mechanical and electrical equipment and hands‑on experience trouble-shooting mechanical components and systems
• 4+ years of experience developing Mechanical and/or Mechanical Cooling Products and launching them into production
• 4+ years of project experience with cooling systems or components
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management and related systems

Responsibilities

• Possess strong engineering judgement and ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty
• Are detail and data oriented
• Have experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or Mechanical Products
• Work with global mechanical equipment suppliers and manufacturers
• Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g. reliability, operations, design, compliance)
• Work on concurrent projects, in multiple geographic zones
• Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
• Support Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review for both mechanical and electrical issues.
• Listen to the voice of the customer to understand if there are improvements that can be made to increase product reliability or availability.
• Work with global supplier and manufacturers to design product improvements, and to oversee root cause analysis.
• Contribute to our global body of knowledge and drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale

Education

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

4+ years of experience developing Mechanical and/or Mechanical Cooling Products

4+ years of project experience with cooling systems or components

Experience with Product Lifecycle Management and related systems
