Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own and improve mechanical (cooling) infrastructure products across a global data-center footprint. You will collaborate with product development to understand each product through its life and own it from design to operation, influencing reliability and performance in diverse data center environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment and hands‑on troubleshooting.
  • 6+ years of experience developing Mechanical and/or Mechanical Cooling Products and launching them into production.
  • 6+ years of project experience with cooling systems or components.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management and related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Possess strong engineering judgement and ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty.
  • Are detail and data oriented.
  • Have experience with Product Lifecycle Management Systems.
  • Have experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or Mechanical Products.
  • Work with global mechanical equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g. reliability, operations, design, compliance).
  • Work on concurrent projects, in multiple geographic zones.
  • Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language.
  • Support Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review for both mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Listen to the voice of the customer to understand if there are improvements that can be made to increase product reliability or availability.
  • Work with global supplier and manufacturers to design product improvements, and to oversee root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to our global body of knowledge and drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
Professional Engineering License
