Job summary

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. is seeking an Import Specialist to process air and ocean import shipments, ensuring compliance and high-quality service for customers. You will ensure adherence to laws and JAS procedures, and may handle customs broker transactions where required.

The role emphasizes documentation, booking management, invoicing, cost forecasting, and proactive customer support across import operations. Join a global logistics team and contribute to accurate, timely shipments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience handling imports (air and/or ocean).
• Experience and knowledge regarding imports, compliance, rules and regulations preferred.
• Knowledge of US customs laws, practices and procedures.
• High attention to detail and ability to multitask to meet deadlines.
• Experience working in CargoWise (C1) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and process documents (classification, invoices) with accuracy.
• Receive and track customer bookings/shipments; update status and dispatch for delivery.
• Bill/Invoice each file to customers, manage payment terms.
• Resolve incorrect payables with vendors and overseas offices.
• Assist sales and colleagues with quotes; forecast job costing and accruals.
• Provide responsive customer service and communicate with truckers during delivery.
• Report customer performance changes to management; promote compliance.
• Cross-train and act as back-up for team members when needed.
• Ensure timely correspondence to customers; perform other duties as requested.
