Job summary

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. in Cincinnati, OH, is seeking an Import Specialist to process air and ocean import shipments, ensuring compliance with laws and company procedures while delivering high-quality service.

You will prepare documents, track bookings, bill files, assist sales, and coordinate with vendors and truckers to ensure on-time delivery and accurate costing for customers. Strong attention to detail and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience handling imports (air and/or ocean) or combination of education and expertise required
• Knowledge of US customs laws, practices and procedures preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Flexibility and strong computer skills including Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and process appropriate import documents to ensure accuracy and proper sequencing
• Receive, track and update customers on bookings/shipments; dispatch for delivery and collect PODs
• Bill/invoice each file with attention to payment terms and applicable terms
• Resolve payables by coordinating with vendors and overseas offices
• Assist sales and colleagues in compiling quotes and cost forecasts
• Provide responsive customer service and maintain communication with truckers during delivery
• Report on customer performance and changes in shipping trends to management
• Promote compliance with company policies and procedures
