Job summary

Independence Health Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team. You will own close processes, reconcile ledgers, and support GAAP/Statutory reporting while ensuring compliance and strong controls.

The role emphasizes collaboration across departments, continuous improvement, and timely financial delivery for the health plan and its subsidiaries, with a Hybrid in-office/remote schedule in the Tri-State Area.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Accounting is required or equivalent.
• CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Support internal management reporting and external GAAP/Statutory reporting.
• Assist with regulatory filings and compliance activities in the health insurance industry.
• Perform detailed general ledger analyses and investigate variances; suggest corrective actions.
• Support operational accounting activities such as premium costs, medical claim cost, and intercompany transactions.
• Collaborate to respond to GL inquiries and ensure policy adherence.
• Participate in external audits as a contact for assigned areas and deliverables.
• Maintain and enhance accounting processes and internal controls, including MAR documentation.
• Prepare non-standard analyses, reports, and financial models for business partners.
• Support cross-functional system enhancements and process improvements.
• Ensure deadlines and quality standards across all responsibilities.
