Job description

The energy of a newsroom, the pace of a trading floor, the buzz of a recent tech breakthrough; we work hard, and we work fast - while keeping up the quality and accuracy we’re known for. It’s what keeps us inventing and reinventing, all the time. Our culture is wide open, just like our spaces. We bring out the best in each other through collaboration. Through our countless volunteer projects, we also help network with the communities around us, too. You can do amazing work here. Work you couldn’t do anywhere else. It’s up to you to make it happen.

We are seeking an experienced Global Benefits Operations & Workday Team Lead based in New York to own the global delivery of scalable, accurate, and compliant technology solutions across Benefits, Time Off, and Leave programs. We are looking for a strong leader and optimization strategist who can critically assess our current Workday/HRIS models and processes and build a high-performing culture. You will inherit a team of high-performing Benefits Workday professionals and will be expected to elevate their capabilities, shift the team's communication style from reactive to consultative, and manage complex global stakeholder relationships across HR, Engineering, and Payroll.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to develop people, manage senior stakeholders, and deliver results at scale. This hands‑on leadership role requires someone who can both drive the work and elevate the team around them.

This role is based in NYC

We’ll trust you to:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of four HRIS professionals, setting clear expectations, managing performance, and continue to build capability across the function
  • Critically assess current HRIS and benefits models to identify systemic data friction points between Benefits vendors, HR and Payroll, proactively mitigating compliance and operational risks
  • Drive complex HR technology initiatives end‑to‑end - including annual enrollment, system enhancements, vendor integrations, acquisitions, and payroll‑related changes - through effective planning, resourcing, and delivery oversight
  • Partners with teams across HR, Technology and Finance including Benefits, Payroll, HR Technology, Engineering, and senior business stakeholders globally to ensure new and ongoing initiatives are implemented with minimal disruption and optimal user experience. Establish and maintain strong data integrity standards through audit frameworks, reconciliation controls, quality assurance processes, and documentation governance
  • Partner with Benefits, Payroll, HR Technology, IT to create a multi‑year roadmap to modernize and simplify benefits administration processes, aligning with stakeholders on priorities and resource requirements
  • Design and execute a multi‑year benefits technology roadmap that achieves measurable reductions in manual workflows and data errors during peak cycles (e.g., Annual Enrollment)
  • Ensure accurate reporting, dashboards, and operational metrics are produced to support decision‑making and leadership visibility
  • Manage benefit vendor integration relationships globally, holding global benefit vendors strictly accountable to SLAs through metrics‑driven governance, successfully turning around underperforming integrations
  • Foster an environment that actively brings a diversity of thought to problem‑solving, challenging the status quo of "how things have always been done"
You’ll need to have:
  • Significant hands‑on experience, with deep proficiency in Benefits, Core HCM, Time Off, Leave, vendor integrations, Payroll integrations, and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing a team within an HRIS or benefits’ operations function
  • Collaborative working style with a strong ability to partner with stakeholders across HR, Payroll, HR Technology, and IT
  • A proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in benefits operations, systems administration, and HR technology in a complex, fast‑paced environment
  • Experience leading large‑scale HR technology projects including implementations, integrations, vendor transitions, and annual enrollment cycles
  • Exposure to global benefits, multinational employee populations, or cross‑regional HR operations
  • Strong analytical capability, including advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Workday reporting, SQL, or similar tools
  • The ability to translate business requirements into technical outcomes and communicate effectively across HR, Payroll, IT, and senior leadership audiences
  • Workday Pro Certification is a plus
  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
