Job summary

JAS Forwarding (USA), Inc. is seeking an Air Import Specialist in Chicago to manage air import shipments, coordinate with airlines and clients, and provide timely updates on flight status and arrivals.

You will deliver high-quality service to suppliers and customers while ensuring compliance with laws and industry best practices. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and knowledge of US customs procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Air imports or combination of education and expertise required.
• Organizational skills and proficiency in written and verbal communication.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
• Detail oriented with ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.
• Knowledge of US customs laws, practices and procedures.
• Able to perform duties without posing a health or safety risk.
• Ability to interact positively with coworkers, subordinates and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Track the arrivals of cargo via web, with JAS origin and warehouses / warehouse.
• Receive customer service transmissions and send to warehouses before flight arrival.
• Report missing documents / packages to customer service and origin.
• Enter transmissions from customer services to generate operations.
• Generate the notice of arrival of cargo to the warehouse / fiscal warehouse and send the dispatch.
• Generate the invoice for freight and handling when cargo arrives.
• Coordinate sending documents to customers by courier.
• Issue insurance according to customer service instruction.
• Comply with customs transmissions as regulated by customs.
• Notify client of arrival of their cargo immediately.
• Daily tracking of all pending flights, reporting delays.
