Job summary

The City of High Point seeks a GIS Intern to assist with municipal asset inventory and infrastructure mapping. You will support the GIS Analyst and GIS Technician with field data collection and GIS database updates for water, sewer, stormwater and street systems.

Four weeks of on-the-job training will be provided. The position is outdoors-friendly, requires a valid driver's license, and relies on basic computer tools.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• Experience using spreadsheets, databases, and word processing tools
• Ability to work with others and communicate clearly
• Preferred: GIS and GPS knowledge; academic GIS training

Responsibilities

• Assist with field data collection and GIS database updates
• Support GPS data collection, photo documentation, and asset inventory
• Help with map updates and data organization
• Participate in four weeks of on-the-job training
