Job summary

The City of Horseshoe Bay is seeking a GIS Technician Intern to provide part-time support for municipal GIS operations. Under supervision, you will assist with mapping, data maintenance, field collection, and spatial analyses to support city departments.

The internship is designed for students or recent graduates, with flexible scheduling around academics and opportunities to learn Esri ArcGIS and other GIS tools in a municipal setting.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Urban/Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Introductory GIS experience or coursework in mapping or data.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Assists with creating, updating, and maintaining GIS maps, layers, databases, and related records.
• Collects and enters geographic and attribute data using GIS software, GPS, and mobile GIS tools.
• Updates GIS datasets for utilities, zoning, streets, drainage, facilities, and other assets.
