Job summary

City of Horseshoe Bay is seeking a part-time GIS intern to support mapping, data management, and basic spatial analysis. You will work with GIS software, GPS devices, and field data collection to help maintain municipal datasets and produce maps for planning and infrastructure projects.

The role offers hands-on experience in a municipal GIS environment, with guidance from experienced staff and opportunities to learn Esri ArcGIS products and field techniques. Remote work is not available.

Qualifications

Enrollment in GIS-related degree or certificate program.
Introductory GIS/mapping experience.
Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with creating, updating, and maintaining GIS maps, layers, databases, and records.
Collect geographic and attribute data using GIS software and GPS.
Update GIS datasets for utilities, zoning, infrastructure, and other assets.
Review GIS data for completeness and accuracy.
Produce maps and visualizations to support city projects.
Assist with basic spatial analysis and field verification.
Maintain organized GIS files, metadata, and project records.
Provide basic technical support to staff on GIS software.
