Job summary

Proviso East High School invites applications for a Girls Softball-Assistant Coach stipend position. Responsibilities include assisting the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating all facets of the program to create a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment for student-athletes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with students, faculty, administrators, and parents under the Athletic Director, with a focus on positive team culture and development.

Qualifications

• Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS certification as IHSA mandated.
• CPR and AED certification compliant with IHSA regulations for high school coaches.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocol compliance.
• Background check and fingerprinting per Illinois School Code and IHSA eligibility.
• Title IX training to ensure anti-discrimination compliance in athletics.
• In-depth knowledge of softball rules, techniques, and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practice plans, and conditioning.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics: equipment, venue prep, warm-ups, scorekeeping.
• Maintain inventory and coordinate repairs of athletic equipment.
• Monitor IHSA rules, policies, safety protocols, CPR/AED readiness.
• Support athlete eligibility tracking and required documentation (physicals, academic clearances).
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff; escalate concerns as needed.
• Participate in preseason meetings, trainings, and postseason equipment returns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
• Assist with developing the game schedule.
