Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools is seeking an Athletics/Activities Assistant Coach at Proviso East High School to assist the Head Coach in developing a comprehensive, safe, and competitive program for student-athletes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with students, faculty, and families, with emphasis on discipline, development, and sportsmanship, under the Athletic Director and building principal's guidance.

Qualifications

• Requires Illinois teaching certification or IHSA coaching credentials.
• CPR/AED certification and concussion training required by IHSA rules.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code.
• Must have Title IX training for anti-discrimination compliance.
• Coaching experience and sport-specific knowledge are essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practice plans, and conditioning.
• Provide feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics including equipment and scorekeeping.
• Maintain inventory of athletic equipment and coordination of repairs.
• Monitor IHSA rules, safety protocols, and CPR/AED readiness.
• Support athlete eligibility tracking and documentation (physicals, clearances).
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Participate in preseason meetings, trainings, and postseason tasks.
• Assist with schedule development and travel logistics.
• Support budget tracking and equipment purchases.
• Prepare materials for parent/booster meetings and program updates.
• Assist in Title IX, ISBE, IHSA compliance under Head Coach direction.
