Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools is seeking a Girls Basketball Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in developing a competitive program for student-athletes at Proviso East High School.

The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and development, working with students, staff, and parents under the Athletic Director. A strong coaching background and IHSA compliance are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification per IHSA.
• CPR/AED certification compliance per IHSA and state law.
• IHSA concussion training and youth sports safety act awareness.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code.
• Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws.
• Solid knowledge of basketball rules, technique, and strategy.
• Prior coaching experience in the sport.
• Strong instructional skills for individuals and teams.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in athletics.
• Coaching Certification required for non-teaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practices, and conditioning.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game logistics, equipment setup, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain inventory and manage equipment repairs and storage.
• Ensure adherence to IHSA rules and safety protocols.
• Assist with athlete eligibility tracking and required documents.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Participate in preseason meetings and postseason equipment tasks.
• Perform duties assigned by administration.
• Support schedule development and travel coordination.
• Assist with budget tracking and inventory records.
• Prepare materials for parent/booster meetings and program updates.
• Help prepare Title IX, ISBE, IHSA compliance paperwork.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on equipment and partnerships.
• Additional duties as assigned.
