Gilead Community Services, Inc. in the Middletown and Clinton area seeks an experienced Per Diem RN to cover day shifts across adult residential programs.

The Program Nurse advocates for client wellbeing, oversees related medical care, and collaborates with non‑medical staff to support recovery and stability. The role requires CT RN licensure, clinical MH/addiction knowledge, and excellent coordination with physicians, pharmacies, and case managers.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with Connecticut licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Five years of experience in mental health and/or addictions.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical knowledge on severe mental health and substance use disorders.
• Support Program Director with clinical services and care models.
• Coordinate medical and psychiatric care with MDs.
• Collaborate with pharmacies to ensure proper pharmaceutical care.
• Offer guidance and peer‑support regarding medical care.
• Conduct health histories, health assessments, and evaluations.
• Make appropriate community referrals to meet basic health needs.
• Provide ongoing medical education to case managers.
• Ensure proper medication self‑administration orientation and training.
• Complete documentation timely and accurately.

Gilead is looking for an experienced Per Diem RN to fill day shift hours as needed across several of our adult residential support programs in the Middletown area and Clinton area. The Program Nurse is responsible for ensuring and advocating for the well‑being and stability of individuals through the support of non‑medical staff members. The RN also oversees health‑related medical care and pharmacological issues. Applicants must demonstrate competence in and knowledge of community treatment, psychopharmacology, and crisis intervention.

This is a non‑union position and pays $40.35 – $49.00 per hour, dependent on level of education and experience.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a Registered Nurse, preferably with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program.
• Connecticut licensure for Registered Nurse required.
• Five years of experience in the mental health and/or addictions field.
• Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Providing clinical knowledge regarding severe and prolonged mental health and substance abuse disorders as well as medical knowledge related to health and well‑being.
• Supporting the Program Director in leading an effective program through clinical services and best practice models of care.
• Maintaining contact with MDs (i.e., psychiatrists, PCPs, specialists, etc.) to coordinate medical and psychiatric care of individuals.
• Working closely with pharmacies to facilitate proper pharmaceutical care.
• Providing guidance and peer‑support regarding medical care in their respective program.
• Conducting health histories, health assessments, and medical evaluations of clients’ emergent medical issues.
• Making appropriate community referrals based on assessments and evaluations to meet clients’ basic health needs.
• Providing ongoing medical education to case managers informally and in training formats.
• Ensuring proper orientation, training, and management of the medication self‑administration system.
• Completing all required documentation electronically and on paper in a timely manner.
• Acting with compassion, integrity, and ethics.
