Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room. You will prepare sterile fields, assist surgeons, and ensure equipment is ready and safe for each case, while maintaining patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.

You will perform aseptic techniques, manage instruments and supplies, and support the team in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, adhering to hospital policies and standards for patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques used in the OR.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provides a clean, safe and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care using aseptic techniques.
• Performs all types of procedures and maintains basic knowledge of various procedures.
• Ensures environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room and sets up the room for each case.
• Functions as a Second Assistant as necessary.
• Notifies staff of equipment and supply problems.
• Transports patients and/or equipment and supplies.
• Maintains a specialty cart or item and checks equipment and sterility.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties, including lifting and pushing/pulling as needed.
