Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Typically requires 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and careful instrument handling.
• Ability to assist in complex surgical cases and adapt to multiple specialties.
• BLS certification (within 6 months if not already held).

Responsibilities

• Provides a clean, safe, efficient operating area and aseptic field.
• Prepares materials, supplies and equipment for procedures; assists with gowning/gloving.
• Passes instruments, holds retractors and assists in wound closure under supervision.
• Sets up room for each case and returns equipment post-procedure.
• Transports patients and equipment; maintains sterile carts and supplies.
• Participates in department committees and work teams as needed.
• Performs patient positioning and lifting with proper technique.
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific patient needs per policy.
