Job summary

Harris Health System is seeking a Supplemental Gastroenterology Technician II to join the GI Lab team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. You will prepare procedure rooms, supplies, and equipment and assist with specimen handling.

The role supports nursing and medical staff, troubleshoots equipment, and maintains a safe, efficient environment. A high school diploma and BLS certification are required, with GI/endoscopy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in gastroenterology and/or completion of another endoscopy-related certificate program, such as a Surgical Technologist program.
• Endoscopy Technician Program, SGNA Program, or SGNA Advanced Associates Program, as applicable.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a hospital-based AHA or Red Cross-approved program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms, supplies, and equipment for GI procedures.
• Assist with specimen handling and processing.
• Clean and disinfect scopes and related equipment per standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment and support a safe, efficient procedural environment.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical teams to deliver patient-centered care.
