Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE) seeks a Department Manager for Geotechnical Services in the Charlotte area. You will lead a growing geotechnical practice, oversee staff, and ensure technically sound project delivery and client service.

The role requires a PE license, a civil engineering degree, and 8+ years in geotechnical consulting, with leadership capacity and strong communication skills. This is an employee-owned firm offering growth and ownership potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree with a geotechnical emphasis preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Typically 8+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical or geostructural engineering consulting, including project management and increasing responsibility for technical delivery and staff leadership.
• Demonstrated expertise in subsurface exploration, geotechnical analysis, design recommendations, construction support, and geotechnical risk management; knowledge of Charlotte-area geology and subsurface and construction conditions is preferred.
• Existing relationships within the Charlotte metropolitan area or surrounding markets are beneficial but not required.
• Participation in BLE's Senior Professional Program will be required to qualify as a final reviewer, execute contracts, and manage technical risk on behalf of the firm.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational & technical leadership of BLE’s Geotechnical Services Department in the Charlotte area.
• Oversee staffing, budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics for the department.
• Develop and maintain trusted client relationships and growth opportunities for BLE in the Charlotte market.
• Drive strategic planning, long-term growth, and successful project delivery with cross‑functional teams.
