Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) seeks a Department Manager for Geotechnical Services in the Charlotte area. You will build and lead BLE's geotechnical department, oversee technical performance, staff development, and client service, and collaborate with the Branch Manager and business development to grow the practice.

This senior role requires a PE license, 8+ years in geotechnical engineering, and strong leadership and client-relations skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; PE license required.
• 8+ years of progressive geotechnical or geostructural engineering consulting experience with project management.
• Experience in subsurface exploration, geotechnical analysis, design recommendations, and construction support.
• Knowledge of Charlotte geology and subsurface/construction conditions preferred.
• Senior Professional Program participation required to qualify as final reviewer and manage technical risk.

Responsibilities

• Oversee geotechnical projects from scoping to exploration, analysis, reporting, and construction support.
• Plan and coordinate subsurface exploration programs with drilling, sampling, and lab testing.
• Lead QA/QC, review proposals and deliverables, and act as final reviewer where allowed.
• Provide technical leadership during design and construction; ensure timely client support.
• Develop staffing plans, budgets, and procurement; manage client relationships and project teams.
