Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) seeks a Department Manager for Geotechnical Services in the Charlotte area. The role leads technical delivery, staffing, and client service while partnering with BLE leadership to grow the practice.

Ideal candidate combines 8+ years in geotechnical consulting, a PE license, and strong leadership to drive project success, budgets, and client relations in a growing Southeast region.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering with geotechnical emphasis preferred where stated.
• Professional Engineer license is required.
• 8+ years in geotechnical/geostructural consulting with staffing leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee geotechnical projects from scoping through exploration, analysis, reporting and construction support.
• Plan subsurface exploration programs, including drilling, sampling, and lab testing.
• Lead QA/QC, review proposals and deliverables, and act as final reviewer where authorized.
• Develop staffing plans, recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing team.
• Manage department budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and profitability targets.
• Build trusted client relationships and support growth strategies.
• Set strategic goals, annual plan, and performance objectives for the department.
