Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) seeks a highly motivated Project Engineer to lead environmental, geotechnical, and civil projects across municipal, industrial, residential, and commercial clients. You will guide design, analysis, and field activities from conception to completion on site with a focus on geotechnical support and site development.

The role requires hands-on project engineering, 5–12+ years in geotechnical settings, and PE licensure along with strong leadership and client-facing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina or reciprocity where the firm operates.
• Minimum 5–12 years of geotechnical engineering and/or materials testing with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
• Knowledge of geotechnical design and construction requirements.
• Knowledge of geosynthetics.
• Apply advanced civil and geotechnical engineering principles to project design, analysis, and problem-solving.
• Conduct technical analyses, calculations, and design for site development, foundation design, retaining walls, earthwork and pavements.
• Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, drawings, and other project documentation.
• Utilize engineering software for design, modeling, and data analysis (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs).
• Perform site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
• Interpret and apply relevant regulations, codes, and standards (ASTM, IBC).

Responsibilities

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and field staff.
• Delegate tasks and oversee project team to ensure accuracy and adherence to requirements.
• Foster a collaborative team environment and support professional growth.
• Lead geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling, and field data collection.
• Serve as primary client contact and communicate project updates clearly throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure quality control, review designs and reports, and participate in audits and compliance activities.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and stay updated on regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders for integrated project delivery.
• Assist in proposals, scopes of work, and vendor management.
• Support business development and client relationship building.
