Job summary
Houston Engineering, Inc. seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineering Manager to lead and direct our geotechnical practice, overseeing subsurface investigations, designs, and QA/QC.
This role blends technical leadership with business development, mentoring staff, and managing project budgets across water resources, transportation, and municipal projects. The candidate will provide senior geotechnical review, coordinate field and lab programs, and partner with civil/environmental teams to deliver
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological Eng.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE or GE license preferred
- 10+ years in geotechnical engineering with leadership experience
- Strong communication, writing and negotiation skills
- Experience with field investigations, lab testing, and geotechnical software
Responsibilities
- Oversee geotechnical scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Review technical documents for accuracy and compliance with codes
- Lead proposals and grow the regional geotechnical practice
- Recruit and mentor staff, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Direct field exploration programs and soils laboratory testing
