Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. in Marquette, Michigan is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support subsurface explorations, field construction oversight, and geotechnical report development for earth retention, ground improvement, and foundation design.

The candidate will coordinate subsurface exploration activities, supervise drilling subcontractors, prepare geotechnical reports, and assist with design for projects including MSE/SOE, industrial, and hydropower.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited college.
• 0-5 years of experience.
• Must have passed the FE exam.
• Demonstrate experience both in terms of industry knowledge and positions of leadership.
• Ability to assist geotechnical engineering professionals with exploration and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with clients to schedule and perform subsurface exploration activities at various project sites.
• Coordinate, direct and oversee drilling subcontractors during the exploration.
• Perform visual engineering classifications and assign lab testing on the recovered samples
• Develop a geotechnical engineering report in support of the project design
• Support the GEI design team with geotechnical aspects of MSE, SOE, industrial and hydropower projects.
• Perform construction oversight on various GEI design projects.
