Job summary

GEI in New York, NY seeks a staff geotechnical engineer to work on complex projects in NYC and the metro area. You will observe field explorations, perform analyses and design calculations, and prepare reports under supervision of senior staff.

The role includes subsurface explorations, construction observation/management, instrumentation design, and drafting drawings in AutoCAD, with travel as needed. Strong report writing and GIS/CAD skills are required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering; M.S. with Geotechnical emphasis preferred.
• EIT preferred; ability to obtain professional registration.
• 1-4 years of experience in civil/geotechnical engineering.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Experience with CAD, Civil 3D, and GIS; GeoStudio SEEP/W and SLOPE/W.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field explorations and testing.
• Coordinate and interpret lab test data.
• Develop spreadsheets and databases.
• Perform engineering analysis and calculations.
• Prepare technical memos, reports, and construction specifications.
• Observe and document construction activities.
• Prepare and modify drawings using AutoCAD.
