Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE) is seeking a Department Manager for Geotechnical Services in the Charlotte region. You will build and lead BLE's geotechnical practice, guiding technical delivery, staff development, and client relations with growth in mind.

The role emphasizes leadership, project oversight, and the ability to shape a new department within an employee‑owned firm. In-person work at BLE's Charlotte offices is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering required; Master's with geotechnical emphasis preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Typically 8+ years in geotechnical or geostructural engineering consulting with PM responsibilities.
• Experience in subsurface exploration, geotechnical analysis, design recommendations, and construction support.
• Knowledge of Charlotte geology and local subsurface conditions preferred.
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, staffing, and contracts; client relationships valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee geotechnical projects from scoping to subsurface exploration and reporting.
• Lead staffing, budgets, schedules, and project profitability.
• Provide technical leadership during design and construction phases.
• Develop trusted client relationships and pursue new opportunities.
• Coordinate with BLE leadership, Branch Manager, and business development for growth.
