Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking a staff level Design Geotechnical Engineer to support large-scale energy projects across North America. You will focus on foundation engineering within an interdisciplinary team and contribute to design-build delivery.

You will develop geo-structural designs, perform analyses, and assist in preparation of drawings and construction docs under PE supervision. North American field work may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT or FE certification, with interest in PE licensure.
• 1–4 years design experience in geotechnical or related fields.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision in a small/medium office.
• Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology.
• Familiarity with USCS, ISRM rock quality scale, and geotechnical standards.
• Familiarity with LPILE, GROUP, FAD, GRLWeap, SHAFT, APILE, SLIDE, RS2, Plaxis, RISA, INVENTOR, SPColumn.

Responsibilities

• Execute geo-structural engineering tasks.
• Perform analyses for deep foundations and retaining structures.
• Model soil/rock stability using limit equilibrium and finite element methods.
• Collaborate with project leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee field subcontractor activities like geotechnical drilling and testing.
• Prepare written reports and present findings under PE supervision.
• Participate in site visits across North America.
• Engage in sector-specific professional organizations and events.
• Support design production and construction documentation.
