Job Title: General Store Cashier / Stocker
Reports to: General Manager
General Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers effectively.
- Provide information about products and store services.
- Establish or identify prices of goods and apply price stickers.
- Scan or key in the prices of merchandise.
- Calculate the total price for customers.
- Assist in developing window and counter displays under the supervision of the General Manager.
- Keep stock rooms organized and clean.
- Interact professionally and friendly with customers.
- Encourage sales and promote the Memphis experience.
- Maintain knowledge about sister venues such as Blues City Café, Club 152 on Beale, etc.
- Check inventory upon receiving merchandise and confirm shipments.
- Handle cash and credit transactions honestly and professionally.
- Control and verify outgoing merchandise.
- Reconcile payments with sales totals, prepare deposits, and close the cash register.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in checkout areas, stock rooms, and store areas.
- Participate in inventory counts and other assigned duties.
- Prioritize workload effectively.
- Remain calm, focused, and versatile in a busy environment.
Requirements
Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills, with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and make quick decisions.
- Manage multiple tasks in a high-paced, stressful environment while remaining calm.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, lift, and carry items.
- Manual dexterity to operate computers and office equipment.
- Business acumen and effective communication skills in English.
- Basic math skills and experience with cash registers or POS systems.
- Organizational skills for storage, displays, and stock rooms.
- Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to speak, hear, see, and distinguish colors.
- Frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Use of manual and motor skills, reaching, kneeling, and stooping as needed.
