Job summary

Meijer in Ohio is seeking a store leader to plan, direct and supervise day-to-day operations across departments. You will mentor staff, drive customer service, manage staffing and hiring, and ensure store standards and sales goals are met.

You will coach teams, promote a safe work environment, and participate in succession planning and training to develop careers while maintaining prime shopping hours and presentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations across departments.
• Mentor and coach team members; implement strategies to improve customer service and drive sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs; ensure training and adherence to policies.
• Promote succession planning by providing career paths and development.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Achieve sales targets and manage shrink within department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Ensure the team is trained and all required training is completed.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
