Job summary

The College of Idaho is seeking a dedicated maintenance team member to perform general repairs, manage work orders, and maintain a safe working environment on a full-time, temporary basis with potential for permanent hire.

Hourly pay range is $20.00–$21.00, with a Mon–Fri schedule 7 am–4 pm and potential on-call rotation. This temp-to-hire role supports campus facilities and operations.

Qualifications

• Background check required.
• Must communicate in English, both spoken and written.
• Experience in skilled maintenance with similar responsibilities.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (e.g., basic plumbing, routine electrical, carpentry, maintenance of fixtures, PM tasks).
• Manage assigned work orders through timely completion.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
• Ensure hand tools, power tools, and equipment are maintained and in good working order.
• Operate a variety of gasoline, electrical, and diesel-powered equipment (plows, scrapers, backhoes, skid steers, man-lifts).

This position is a temp-to-hire opportunity, allowing you to demonstrate your skills and potentially secure a permanent role with us.Typical duties include:

• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician- such as basic plumbing, routine electrical, carpentry, maintenance of building fixtures, and PM tasks.
• Manage assigned work orders through timely completion.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
• Ensure all hand tools, power tools, and equipment are maintained and in good working order.
• Adhere to safety standards, operate a variety of gasoline, electrical, and diesel-powered equipment ranging from plows, scrapers, backhoes, skid steers, man-lifts, and related equipment.

Qualifications:

• Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
• Have strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written
• Previous experience in a skilled maintenance position with similar responsibilities.
• High school diploma or GED, vocational or trade school a plus.
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Possession of a current, valid driver’s license; vehicle insurable with a good driving record in accordance with The College of Idaho’s vehicle policy.
