The University of Idaho seeks a General Technician I to perform general building maintenance and support a variety of construction, trades, landscaping, exterior service, and maintenance projects in Moscow.

Responsibilities include using basic tools, inspecting facilities, assisting with deliveries and inventory, and contributing to snow removal and other duties as assigned. Requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and ability to drive university vehicles.

Position Overview:

This position will perform general building maintenance tasks on aregular and continuing basis. It will provide general support for avariety of construction, trades, landscaping, exterior service andmaintenance areas to repair and maintain university facilities andgrounds. Job duties will vary widely depending on the work andprojects assigned.

Duties may include:
  • Utilize basic tools and equipment
  • Repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment and facilityproperty
  • Assist with routine facility inspections and monitorcleanliness
  • Assist with inventory and distribution of deliveries
  • Manually move and transfer items
  • Participate in snow removal
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
  • Working in a team to accomplish goals
Required Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other:
  • Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to meetuniversity requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
  • Be at least 18 years of age
Additional Preferred:
  • Experience:
    • Working in construction or building maintenance
    • Using power tools and equipment
  • Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related tobuilding maintenance
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours ata time
  • Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and scissor lifts
  • Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50pounds
  • Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
  • Work in inclement weather conditions
