Kellermeyer Bergensons Services, LLC (KBS) is hiring a General Cleaner in Port Reading, NJ. This full-time role supports our janitorial services team with tasks across restrooms, offices, and common spaces. Shifts vary, including mornings and nights, offering flexibility within a union-backed environment.

Applicants should be able to lift up to 49 pounds, read safety rules in English, and commit to maintaining a clean, safe facility. Prior cleaning experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must be physically able to lift up to 49 pounds.
• Lift and carry objects weighing 15–25 pounds with ease.
• Regular bending, reaching, and stretching for long shifts.
• Push/pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds.
• Demonstrate full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists.
• Stand/walk for extended periods (10–12 hours) throughout the shift.
• Read and interpret safety rules and procedures in English (Spanish where required).

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks in assigned areas following standard procedures and schedules.
• Clean rooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and windows as needed.
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris, and maintain floor cleanliness.
• Manage trash and recycling, ensuring proper disposal.
• Clean and polish surfaces, including stainless steel and mirrors.
• Report work completed or issues to supervisor daily.
• Other janitorial duties may be assigned as needed.

Our General Cleaner position performs the following duties within designated work areas, as assigned at the beginning of each shift:

• Performs work according to standard procedure and by building's operational schedule.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and windows.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors throughout the sales floor and seating area.
• Regularly check the trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all areas of the site.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean windows and mirrored surfaces; polish stainless steel surfaces.
• Dust fixtures, shelves, furniture, and equipment.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the customer and team member restrooms (includes cleaning and policing as needed).
• Complete sweep logs, as directed.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Report work accomplished orally or on written work order to supervisor daily.
• Other janitorial duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements For Our General Cleaner Positions

• Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 25 pounds.
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
• Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds
• Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists
• Standing and walking in and around the facility with great frequency for up to 10-12 hours
• Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe handling for chemicals sheets/documents (generally in English; may have in Spanish where state required).
