Job summary

IFS is hiring a General Cleaner in Newark, NJ as part of our Janitorial Services Team. This full-time role offers a fast-paced environment with opportunities for advancement.

Shifts include days/nights and weekends; duties include cleaning, stocking, and reporting to a supervisor daily. Benefits include health and life insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 25 pounds.
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
• Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds.
• Read and interpret safety rules and instructions in English (Spanish where required).

Responsibilities

• Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and windows.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors throughout the sales floor and seating area.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed in all areas of the site.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean windows and polished surfaces; dust fixtures, shelves, furniture, and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of customer and team member restrooms and report to supervisor daily.
• Complete sweep logs, as directed.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Other janitorial duties may be assigned as needed.

Our General Cleaner position performs the following duties within designated work areas, as assigned at the beginning of each shift:

• Performs work according to standard procedure and by building's operational schedule.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and windows.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors throughout the sales floor and seating area.
• Regularly check the trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all areas of the site.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean windows and mirrored surfaces; polish stainless steel surfaces.
• Dust fixtures, shelves, furniture, and equipment.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the customer and team member restrooms (includes cleaning and policing as needed).
• Complete sweep logs, as directed.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Report work accomplished orally or on written work order to supervisor daily.
• Other janitorial duties may be assigned as needed

Requirements for our General Cleaner positions:

• Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 25 pounds.
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
• Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds
• Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists
• Standing and walking in and around the facility with great frequency for up to 10-12 hours
• Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe handling for chemicals sheets/documents (generally in English; may have in Spanish where state required).
