Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Houston is seeking a Manager Trainee in Supply Chain to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe and timely freight movement, load assignment, and customer service. Training includes DOT compliance and company policy adherence.

You will build relationships with drivers and carriers, support fleet optimization projects, and gain hands-on experience in payroll, budgeting, and performance reporting for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field; OR high school diploma with 1 year of related experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed; willingness to relocate regionally.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure productive operations.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and staff.
• Improve efficiency of fleet operations, measure KPIs, and present customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
• Perform administrative duties like payroll, budgeting, pay issue resolution, and financial reporting.
• Manage yard operations, inspections, repairs, and coordinating maintenance for equipment.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and route planning.
• Maintain safety culture with daily messages, safety briefings, and DOT compliance.
• Assign loads and plan routes to ensure safe, on-time service and meet customer needs.
